Late Paleozoic to Mesozoic tectonic transition in northeastern Eurasia: Constraints from two island arc magmatic belts in eastern NE China

چکیده

Abstract Since the Paleozoic, tectonic evolutionary process of eastern Eurasia has been affected by at least three paleo-ocean regimes: Paleo-Asian Ocean, Mongol-Okhotsk and Paleo-Pacific Ocean. However, transition among these ocean regimes is not well understood. Recently, Heilongjiang Ocean was proposed to play an important role during from regime (and later Ocean) regime. Here we report on a new combined study petrological, geochemical, geochronological data biotite–plagioclase gneisses Qinglongcun Complex in west Jiamusi-Khanka Block better understand evolution this period. The results show that protoliths are medium-K calcalkaline rhyolites were derived volcanic island arc environment related paleo-oceanic subduction occurred ca. 260 Ma. Integrated with previous studies Permian arc-affinity rocks within Block, identified two magmatic belts ages 290 Ma east margins respectively. belt Early–middle Permian, which provided driving force for opening Subduction middle–Late resulted belt. These provide key evidence understanding late Paleozoic early Mesozoic.

Apatite fission track age of Mesozoic sandstones from Beipiao basin, eastern China: Implications for basin provenance and tectonic evolution

The apatite fission track (FT) analysis of Jurassic sandstones from the Beipiao basin in the eastern China indicates a large variation in FT age peaks. The sandstone of the Beipiao Formation has two peak ages at 178.8 and 40.0 Ma, while the sandstone of the Tuchengzi Formation has three age peaks at 152.0, 77.5 and 32.5 Ma. This implies that the provenance of the Beipiao basin in the early Jura...

Tectonic Evolution of the Japanese Island Arc System

■ Abstract Growth of the Japanese arc system, which has mainly taken place along the continental margin of Asia since the Permian, is the result of subduction of the ancient Pacific ocean floor. Backarc basin formation in the Tertiary shaped the presentday arc configuration. The neotectonic regime, which is characterized by strong eastwest compression, has been triggered by the eastward motion ...

Stratigraphy and paleogeographic significance of metamorphic rocks in the Shadow Mountains, western Mojave Desert, California

Stratigraphic correlations presented here for the ductilely deformed and metamorphosed rocks exposed in the Shadow Mountains indicate that they formed on the North American continental margin and are not exotic or significantly displaced from their site of origin. These strata represent a depositional history that spans Late Proterozoic and Paleozoic passive margin development, late Paleozoic t...
